Woody

Finished!!! :] Might put a dark background on this one... not sure yet.

“To love is to suffer. To avoid suffering, one must not love. But then, one suffers from not loving. Therefore, to love is to suffer; not to love is to suffer; to suffer is to suffer. To be happy is to love. To be happy, then, is to suffer, but suffering makes one unhappy. Therefore, to be happy, one must love or love to suffer or suffer from too much happiness.” -Woody Allen.

There's your Woody fix of the day.

Reason...

...number 8,999,832,988 why I missed out on the late 60's/Early 70's:

SixtiesPosters.com
Wes Wilson
Lee Conklin
Bonnie MacLean

I love Fillmore posters. It's one of those things that, when I discovered them, everything made sense (Like Stairway! And the White Album!)! Crazy font, bright colors!, all the music I LOVE, figures, faces, and swirly, lava lamp-like designs.

Also: Wolfgangs Vault
IF you haven't already discovered the beauty.

Other than that, I'm working on a caricature of Woody Allen (like I said I would!) and I'm illustrating some Beatles songs, which I've yet to figure out which ones exactly. This is getting somewhere! (If I could get rid of all the distractions).

I used to live in a room full of mirrors; all I could see was me. I take my spirit and I crash my mirrors, now the whole world is here for me to see. -Jimi Hendrix

Spring??

Classes started back up again today at RIT, and I'm really glad. I was starting to feel the lazy coming in. Spring here we come finally?

I finally got to scanning some of my bigger pieces from the winter quarter:

This piece was done for an assignment were I had to show an impossible meeting. I was in this romantic sort of mood and God knows how much coffee I have in my life, so it only seemed fitting. Oil paint and oil pastels. I LOVE this technique, I just wish i did this a little bigger so I could get more details in.

These two were for a book cover and title page assignment. I was looking at the work of Gris Grimley before I started. This is a technique I use in a lot of my sketches that I wanted to experiment at a larger scale. Gouache, colored pencil, and ink.

And this is a thumbnail from a larger graphic novel spread I did. I based the story off of my own experience of getting my tarot cards read. So, yes, that's me, green and pink eye shadow and all! However, this is the only frame in the spread I was at all happy with. Acrylic and colored pencil.

On a side note I had three pieces accepted into ArtAwake!!

Also, I'm getting back into knitting and crocheting, in the hopes of earning some extra cash with some neat original pieces. I think I'll blog about that later! haha

Some Cute lil ol' sketches.

For Christmas I received my first little Moleskin... and I've been having a lot of fun with it's sexy high quality paper.

Here's some of my favorites, even if they were completely pointless doodles:

Shel Silverstein

I've been studying Phil Burke's work lately for one of my classes. I decided to do a portrait, with his work in mind, with my own twist. I'm fantastically happy with this right now and would really love to keep working in this direction. Portrait of one of my favorite people, Shel Silverstein.

I'M SO EXCITED TO SEE THIS MOVIE OH MAH GOD.

Also, I am reading Arkham Asylum, and it is so gorgeous.

Will post latest work soon, I just have to scan it and most of it is really big.
